Firstly let me start by saying
yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
The 1st January 2008 will be a day I will never forget for the rest of my life.
I have known John for a long time now, and as I have said before I have been by John through the highs and lows of his career, and boy this was as high as you can get legally.
The one thing I noticed about John was the fact that he was so relaxed from when I met him at the hotel about 1pm. The pre match meal was as funny as ever with all the light hearted banter. At the venue I had my last heart to heart chat with John. After this chat I knew he was as ready for this game as he ever had been in all the time i have known him.
The final itself was quite comfortable for John who wasn’t really troubled by Kirk, Not taking anything away for Kirk who did magnificently to reach his first PDC world final.
I’m not ashamed to tell you I was crying tears of joy when John sunk that double 10 to be crowned World Champion for the 3rd time.
The tears were for John of course, and also the people who had come down to the final to support John. These people were -

Sean
Jason
Curtis (Jason’s son).
(how many of you reading this had tears in your eyes at the end)
As I said at the top of this piece it was the second best day of my life, the first was the birth my daughter Alannah.
Sorry I haven’t done a report on any of the games, but as you can imagine I have been inundated with emails and texts to get signed pictures and other stuff off John. Which I will get for you all when I see John in Glasgow.
Finally I must personally thank John for the hospitality and kindness he has shown towards me and my friends down in London. Thank you John a true gentleman and a great ambassador for the game of darts.
The premier league needs champions like you in it, hopefully the crowds will be more appreciative of your talent, and give you the best of order, whistlers need not apply for tickets. You’re not welcome.
